Jason Vieaux, Chair
CIM Guitar Department
As Chair of The Cleveland Institute of Music Guitar Department, I wish to invite you to our tenth annual Classical Guitar Weekend. Over the years this unique artistic event has consistently brought the world's finest guitarists, lutenists, lecturers, composers and teachers to the Cleveland Institute of Music and surrounding University Circle area. This May my students and I look forward to sharing once again CIM's rich environment of world class performance, artistry, education and camaraderie with old friends and new, from around the U.S.A. and beyond, who love fine music and the classical guitar. In keeping with tradition, our Weekend's Festivities will conclude Sunday afternoon with my faculty recital in Kulas Hall. This year I am excited to present a solo program of works by Albeniz, Bach, Brouwer, Giuliani and Frank Martin. Please join us May 21-23, 2010.

It will then examine Spanish guitar making, focusing on Robert Bouchet's detailed notebook, which illustrates the way Spanish craftsmen handed their skills down in their workshops from father to son. Finally, Maestro Tacchi will speak about his own workshop, pointing out differences in the process of building a Bouchet versus his Coclea guitar. A question and answer period will follow.
